Cycle 3 Wrap Up
Cycle 3 was hugely ambitious, so even though I pretty much halved the scope by the time it was over, I still produced quite a lot of work in the end.
Some of it is still unfinished (not ideal) and I have had to contend with all the training from cycle 2 that is still happening in the background. Because cycle-2-physical-challenge will be with us until November, I feel like I can never really give my undivided focus to anything else until that’s over.
This is both a blessing and a curse.
A blessing because this amount of exercise and self-care is unexpectedly balancing out my workload and preventing me from burning out.
A curse because I feel torn regardless of what I work on. Working on cycle 4 project? I should be working on cycle-2-physical-challlenge. And vice versa.
The outcome for cycle 3 was that I built 3 separate websites for 3 different projects (only one has been released so far).
2 big lessons:
1. You won’t always have neat and tidy sections of time. More often than not, there will be competing priorities you can’t get rid of and you will still have to find a way to make it work.
2. If you try hard enough, you can often find a way to make a disadvantage work for you.
